'One to Watch' - Moviescope

After two years juggling a job in communications with training
in Method acting, Valmike enrolled full-time at Central School
of Speech and Drama. During the course, he appeared in his first
two feature films, 'Jen' and 'Right Hand Drive' - nominated BEST
FEATURE UK, British Film Festival, L.A.
His first professional short film while training, 'Aisha and
Nadeem', with executive producer Marc Boothe, was picked up at
the Clermont-Ferrand short film festival for international
distribution. It also received first runner up at the Satyajit
Ray Awards.
After graduating with distinction Valmike performed in sell out shows of
'Collision', at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Roxy theatre,
2007. His first green screen project 'Get to Know Me', shot at
Lars Von Trier's Zentropa studios, Denmark and directed by Tommy
Ipsen was officially selected for the Copenhagen Film Festival.
Valmike played a suicidal manic depressive alongside BAFTA
nominee Saeed Jaffrey in 'Open Secrets' which won BEST FILM at
the Buffalo-San film festival, 2008. The film is currently
making its way around the film festivals. His first radio job
with the BBC came soon after on the popular drama, 'Silverstreet'.
He also shot 'Hotel' which won BEST DRAMA at the L.A.
International Short Film Festival, 2009, alongside Danny Webb (Valkyrie)
where he plays an assassin and son of BAFTA nominee, Art Malik.
His film Daisy's Last Stand won Film London's Best Of Boroughs
Audience Award. |
